This sculpture of the Apostle John was inspired by a story written by Christian author Max Lucado.  Max kindly granted me permission to use a portion of that story for the plaque on the sculpture base.

"It's Okay to Cry . . . Jesus Did"

I sculpted the 8" study as a Christmas gift to my wife, Dusti, in 1990.  Later when the children's home in Leakey was trying to raise the funds to have the life size bronze cast, we decided to cast this small one and donate part of the proceeds to that cause.  Part of the proceeds from the sale of this sculpture are used to assist single mothers finish college or technical school.

I sculpted "Jesus Wept" because I felt compelled to. The concept had been with me for over ten years, in my head, in my sketch book and even in clay models. When the Callioux Foundation funded the placement of the first sculpture at a children's home in Texas, I was overwhelmed and humbled - at the same time.
